In June 2005 the new St. Veit football stadium will be opened after a construction period of only 14 months. The stadium – with its main pitch, artificial pitch and three further training areas – is raised up on a 3 metre-high earth wall, which creates a closed arena-like location in contrast to the flat, mainly agricultural surroundings. All the pitches are equipped with a floodlight system and an entrance for emergency rescue vehicles. The south-facing side of the main pitch is connected to a storey-high utility block with changing rooms, sanitary facilities, massage rooms, trainer and referee rooms. A stand with 500 seats is located adjacent to the pitch, which enables an exciting dialogue between pitch and spectators. The centrally located “Red Box” is supported by the utility block, but remains formally independent. It houses a canteen, meeting room and sanitary facilities. The players’ changing rooms and sanitary facilities are concealed behind the stand. The 1,300 m2 light wing-like foil roof with an aluminium soffit, is suspended grandly over the stand. Wide spectator aisles and a disabled lift provide additional design elements.
