As the name suggests, a multi-purpose hall must be suited to multi-functional use. The hall, wchich is actually more of an canopy (over the ice rink) than a closed building, is located on a slightly sloping plot in a impressive setting against a backdrop ot fall coniferous forest. The perceived form results not least as a result of these topographical circumstances. The building body nestles elegantly and altogether naturally into the surroundings. With a deliberate gesture of a „grasping hand“, the buildings is closed towards the forest, forms a localised backbone, offers protection, whilst it opens out towards the front of the plot, forming through this movement an unfolding rostrum, with space beneath for further uses (changing and washroomes etc.). The result her is an airy, light structure that seems altogether proportionate in terms of the location and use, as a result of both the choice of materials and the form and method of construction.
